Sunday outing
We love to head in to Athens city centre. Usually on Sundays it's not too crowded. We has coffee at Zappion, strolled in Plaka, played with M in a park, chased pigeons, had pancakes at Hip Cafe, checked out an art gallery off Syntagma, discovered a new sushi place and enjoyed the sunny weather. Of course you can do all of the above in Glyfada but

Juicy juices
A friend of mine started a juice challenge- the ideas is to simply add one freshly squeezed juice a day for 10 days and see/feel the real difference it can make to our health. It is not a diet or anything, just a way to get more fruits and veggies into your daily meals, and there is need to change what you eat - good for me- because there is no way I can follow diets etc. The benefits of juices are numerous: improved energy and clarity, feeling better, looking better and an overall sense of wellbeing.
And to keep motivated we have group on Facebook where we post pictures, ideas and comments. i am on day 5 so far. Let me share some of my juicy juices here:

Date Night in Kolonaki
The other Saturday me and my husband called our trusted babysitter and went for a lovely night out in Athens. We started with dinner and drinks at Paragon, a new, Italian place. Then we went to summer cinema and saw the Bling Ring by Sofia Coppola. Summer cinema is so nice, you sit outside and watch movies under the stars. And there is a bar so you can have drinks, snacks and even pizza or souvlaki if you are in the mood.

Summer holidays in Sweden
So I was looking through my pictures to Sweden to post on the blog, surely I must have taken some shots of geourgous summer Stockholm ? The old houses in Gamla Stan? The brige and sea at Strandvägen ? The classic shot At Slussen? Apparently not! Apart from a zillion photos of my little girl , which I keep private I had photos of food... Food... And more food!
I love Greek and Mediterranean cuisine but being away from Sweden makes me truly miss these dishes:
Swedish meatballs with mashed poatatoes and jam.
Toast with Shrimps
Swedish style bouillabaisse
Smörgåstårta

Al Dente Ristorante
A couple of months ago my favorite Indian restaurant in glyfada closed down. Very sad because now there is no place to get a spicy tandori chicken or a sweet korma stew . The space was empty but all of a sudden there was movement and a huge, lovely and very cosy Italian restaurant opened. Italian food can never be wrong. And since the ingredients are pretty much the same as in Greek food it taste just wonderful and you can imagine you are in Italy. Al dente is very tasty and super busy so make sure to book a table. Oh yes sometime else - you can bring your own wine. For just 5 euros you can enjoy your own wine. Haven't seen that anywhere else in Athens yet.

Clean Monday
The official 40 day lent kicked off yesterday. So bye bye meat and souvlaki and hello kalamari! No honestly I don't think we will follow it, but just try to cut down on meat and eat more vegetables and fruits. Many restaurants served set menus like this yummy one with squid, octopus, cod, shrimps, marinated little gavros fish and zucchini balls. Super delicious!
Waffle House
The weather was great- so we went to lovely Waffle House in vouliagemeni and enjoyed this years first ice cream out in the sun.

Mikrolimanon, Pireaus
Efter shopping i glyfada bestämde vi oss för att luncha i charmiga mikro limanon i Pireaus. Här ligger tavernorna vägg i vägg längs vattenkanten.
After some shopping in Glyfada, we decided to drive down to Mikrolimanon in Pireaus. The tavernas are one next to another, and you sit right on the water front. They have also decorated them with colorful things for the carnival which is taking place this week.

Forst och framst sa ar de kineser som arbetar dar, jag som kan mandarin bestallar alltid pa kineiska. Dears Singapore fried noodles ar bast! Xie xie! MEN - undvik sushi !
Greek food is great- but sometimes I crave Chinese take out. Right now my favorite place is Sumo Tasty in Voula. It may not look the best from the outside, but the food is delicious. Since I speak Mandarin, I always order in Chinese. Their seamed dumplings and Singapore fried noodles are top!

Beautiful breakfast
I love big breakfasts. Tea, juice, fresh fruits, bread from the bakery, Greek yoghurt etc... Now the season of strawberries is on its way and you can get delicious sweet berries from the market.

Souk
For nagon manad sedan oppanade Souk, ett libanesisk stalle i Glyfada. Det har riktigt god och vallagad mat. Mumsig hummus, tabbouleh salad och goda kycklingspett.
Just what Glyfada was missing: A Lebanese restaurant ! A couple of months ago Souk opened its doors and serve super delicious Lebense cuisine. They are open 24 hrs per day. I liked their salad tabbouleh and yummy dips like hummus or baba ghanoush. They also have excellent chicken skewers and falafel made with ground chickpeas. Oooh i'm getting hungry just writing about it. Thank God they deliver home too...! شكرا

I made Greek bean soup the other day. It is perfect on a cold day. The Greek kicthen has lots of healthy veggie dishes like lentil soup, Chickpea Soup, green pea soup, okra soup (also know as ladyfingers) ... etc More recipes to follow...
You need: 400g dry white navy (haricot) beans - let them soak in water over night 1/2 cup of olive oil, 1 large onion, 2-3 cloves of garlic, 1 teaspoon of tomato paste, salt, pepper and oregano
