Juicy juices

A friend of mine started a juice challenge- the ideas is to simply add one freshly squeezed juice a day for 10 days and see/feel the real difference it can make to our health. It is not a diet or anything, just a way to get more fruits and veggies into your daily meals, and there is need to change what you eat - good for me- because there is no way I can follow diets etc. The benefits of juices are numerous: improved energy and clarity, feeling better, looking better and an overall sense of wellbeing.

And to keep motivated we have group on Facebook where we post pictures, ideas and comments. i am on day 5 so far. Let me share some of my juicy juices here: 

This is made of kiwi, apple, orange

Al Dente Ristorante

A couple of months ago my favorite Indian restaurant in glyfada closed down. Very sad because now there is no place to get a spicy tandori chicken or a sweet korma stew . The space was empty but all of a sudden there was movement and a huge, lovely and very cosy Italian restaurant opened. Italian food can never be wrong. And since the ingredients are pretty much the same as in Greek food it taste just wonderful and you can imagine you are in Italy. Al dente is very tasty and super busy so make sure to book a table. Oh yes sometime else - you can bring your own wine. For just 5 euros you can enjoy your own wine. Haven't seen that anywhere else in Athens yet.

Ginger tea

Sa blev hela familjen forkylda. Litta skrutt mar redan prima, men vi andra hostar och nyser. Jag gjorde lite ginger the som tydligen ska hjalpa. Man skar nagra bitar ingefar och kokar det i 10 min - sen dricker man det varmt. Man kan blanda i lite kanel, citron eller honung for extra smak. 

So the whole family got a cold ! Little M is already fine, but the rest of us sneeze and cough... bu hu!
I made my special ginger tea - it works magic for colds and flues. All you do is cut a few pieces of ginger and let it boil for 10 min. The drink it! You can add lemon, cinnamon, vanilla, lime or honey for sweeter flavor. 

Out without M!

I lordags hade vi barnvakt och gick ut med nagra vanner utan lilla M. Det var supertrevligt och massor av nya stallen har oppnat i Glyfada. Vi at pa Soleto och sen blev det drink pa Holy Spirit. Fast efter ett tag var det mysigt att ga hem till min lilla darling M

We had a baby sitter this Saturday so we swopped formula for daiquiris and went out with some friends. Lots of new places opened in Glyfada. We ate at Soleto and had delicious cocktails at Holy Spirit. The bartenders are true mixologist and made amazing drinks. 

But...after a few hours it was even better to go home and hug our little sleeping baby... 

3sixty

Mitt bland turistshoppar och taverner hittade vi trendiga 3sixty in Napflio. Bar/cafe med god mat och perfekta cafe-lattes. Snalla och rara var de ocksa, de varmde nappflaskor till M och fixade ett skotbord.  

Next to traditional tavernas, we found 3Sixty, a super nice cafe/bar located in neoclassical building in the historical city's center of Nafplion.  

Drinks at Moorings

Vi mötte upp med några goda vänner och hade cocktails på taket på Moorings i Vouliagmeni. Det var riktigt trevligt och deras cocktails är super goda... Verkligen mysigt

We met up with some good friends and had cocktails on the roof garden of Moorings in Vouliagmeni. It was really nice and their drinks are delicious!

Lemon+lime

Det blir varmare och varmare i Aten så det är super viktigt att dricka massor av vatten. Jag brukar pressar citroner och lime och frysa dem som isbitar. Det gör vattnet godare och uppfriskande.

It is getting hotter in Athens so it is super important to drink lots of water. i squeeze lemons and limes and freeze them as ice cubes. It makes the water really nice and refreshing.

Sunset at Balux

A lovely place is Balux in Glyfada. It is an all day / all night hang out place. In the mornings mothers have coffees while their kids play, during the day you can tan on the beds and chairs on the beach or by the pool, and grab a salad for lunch. When the sun sets the bar opens and they have nice cocktails and music and in the evening is gets more and more busy...

Americanico

Americanico är en liten bar i vid Marina Zeas i Piraeus. Det har bord utanhus och mycket cool, retro inredning. Kolla in mina bilder ; ) och ha en toppen helg ♥

Hej från kontoret! Varje morgon dricker jag denna underbara cappuccino freddo. Den är kall och den perfekta kaffe-kicken att vakna upp. Jag beställer mina från Gregorys.gr - den kostar bara 1,80 euro och de kommer och levererar t o m.

Hi from the office. Everyday I drink a cappuccino freddo. It is cold, fresh and the perfect coffee kick to wake up. (I order mine from Gregorys.gr - it is just 1.80 Euro and they come and deliver it and all!)

Ithaki

En stopp var denna fantastiska (men dyra) restaurang Ithanki på halvön Vouliagmeni. Apperenlty massor av kändisar gå dit. Vistiors har inkluderat Athina Onassis till Bill Clinton, från Sean Connery till Julio Iglesias och Leonardo DiCaprio ... Deras krabba och mangosallad var jättegott. På kvällen har de också en sushi kock och servera sushi.

One stop was this amazing (and amazingly expensive) restaurant Ithaki in the Peninsula of  Vouliagmeni. Apparently lots of celebreties go there. Vistiors have included Athina Onassis to Bill Clinton, from Sean Connery to Julio Iglesias and Leonardo DiCaprio... Their crab, mango and avocado salad with lime dressing was delicious! In the evening they also have a sushi chef and serve sushi .

 

Beer Garden

På en lugn gata en bit fran Glyfada ligger The German Beer garden. De har en lummig trädgård, mysigt på sommaren och en rustik inomhus del med öppen spis. Jag älskar deras goda appel cider och pretzels.

On a quiet residential street a little off from the centre of Glyfada is the German Beer Garden. They have a lush garden, which is nice in the summer and a rustic indoor dining area. I love their appel cider and pretzels.

Notos cafe

Det snöar hemma i Stockholm, men här har vi 23 grader och solsken. Idag gick vi vid havet och sen blev det fika med kall kaffe på Notos Cafe. Very nice!

It is snowing back home in Stockholm, but here we have 23 degrees and sunshine. Today we walked and had cold coffees at Notos Cafe. Very nice ! 

Red Wine event

En vän till mig har en vinbutik i Ano Glyfada. Hon importerar viner från Tyskland. Ikväll ska vi dit på vinprovning. Eftersom det snart är påsk (och alla kommer äta en massa lamm ...) är temat Red Wine night.

A friend of mine has a wine shop in Ano Glyfada. She imports wines from Germany. Tonight we are going there for wine tasting. because of Easter (and all the lamb we will eat...) the theme is Red Wine night.

six d.o.g.s

Söndagen spenderade vi och några vänner i Atens centrum. Vi började med brunch på Hip Cafe, jag gillar verkligen detta stället och deras  goda vego omelett. Sedan tog vi en promenad ner Ermou och hamnade på six d.o.g.s .Det ligger i Monastiraki och är ett kafé, bar och konstutställning. Verkligen mysigt och de har urgoda milkeshakes:)

This Sunday we and some friends went to the city centre of Athens. We started with brunch at Hip Cafe, how much I like this place and their vego omelet. Then we took a walk down Ermou and ended up at Six Dogs, s a day & night cultural entertainment center in Monastiraki which combines a Café, a Bar & a visual art exhibtions. Nice, relaxed chilled out palce. And great milkeshakes : ) 

Kalimera :)

Började dagen med lite apelsinjuice. De grekiska apelsinerna (från Peloponnesos tror jag) är super söta och goda just nu. underbart med en vitaminkick på morgonen.

Started the day with some orange juice. the greek oranges (from peloponnese i think) are sweet at the moment. wonderful kick of vitamins in the morning.

hot chocolate

Perfekt att dricka lite varm choklad. Detta märke är bra, smakar verkligen mycket kakao och inte alls för söt.

The weather is perfect for making nice hot chocolate. I like this brand, which I buy from AB, it is rich in cacao and low in sugar. Very chocolatey but not too sweet !

Hard Rock cafe

Sedan ett år tillbaka har Glyfada ett alldeles eget Hard Rock Cafe och man behöver allså inte åka ner till down town Aten längre. Igår kväll var vi där med ett gäng vänner för middag och drinkar. Det var jättetrevligt (fast massor av 15-åring kids på jullov). Jag testade Hard Rock's Red Christmas cocktail med hallon och mint. Yum! Och deras Kyckling Quesadillas med ananas var supergoda också.

Since a year ago Glyfada has its very own Hard Rock Cafe, and there is no need to head to down town Athens anymore. Last night we went out with a bunch of friends for dinner and drinks to Hard Rock Cafe. It was very crowded (lots of 15 year olds kids on school holidays) but really nice. I tried their Red Christmas cocktail with raspberries & mint. Yum! And their Chicken Quesadillas with pineapple were great too.

Chai Latte

Ett annat hett tips från mig är Chai Latte. Du kan göra det från scratch men jag köpa den här färdiga mixen (från Sverige). Vad är Chai latte? Chai är svart te som i kombination av kryddor späds ut med mjölk och socker. Kryddorna varierar från recept till recept, men oftast består av kanel, kardemumma, kryddnejlika, peppar och ingefära. Det kan göras med vatten men jag gillar mjölk eftersom det gör den mer tjock och slät. Använd en mjölkskummare för bästa effekt.

It's so good.

Another hot tip from me is Chai Latte . You can make it from scratch but I buy this ready mix (from Sweden). What is Chai latte? In its most basic form, chai is black tea that is brewed strong with a combination of spices and is diluted with milk and sugar. The spices vary from recipe to recipe, but usually consist of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, pepper and ginger. It can be made with water but I prefer milk since it makes it more thick and smooth. Use a milk frother for best effect.
